If you indulge in self pity, the only sympathy you can expect
is from the same source.
Lives of all great men remind us
we can make our lives sublime.
And, at parting, leave behind us
footprints in the sands of time.
A part of everyone that I have loved -- is left in me.
So neither is the same – the person nor I – and neither can return
to its simplicity before I came.
This hour I tell things in confidence.
I may not tell everyone…..but I will tellyou.
God did not make woman out of man’s head
--that she could command him.
Nor out of his feet
--that she could be his slave.
But out of his side
--that she could be close to his heart.
Let us be first
to give a friendly sign,
to nod first,
to smile first,
to speak first.
And, if necessary to forgive first.
